it seems, that this was implemented some time ago, cause now in 2.5.8 i see a checkbox "Check for Updates" in Notifications tab.

i doesnt really matter where, just put it somewhere
Some users would like to disable automatic update checking for Spark. There are a few ideas for where to put this option in the client:
1) In Preferences on the Notification tab
2) In Preferences on the Login tab
3) As a checkbox menu item in the Help menu.
I like #1 best. What do you think?
