Investigate bosh / xmpp ping behavior

Description

We are currently testing Openfire as a IM server for Atlassian Bamboo notifications. We have deployed it with BOSH because we need HTTP support.

With Pidgin 2.7.3 , we have found that the connection is lost randomly. In the debug window, we could see that Pidgin sends ping requests which sometimes get responded by Openfire. And we also see Openfire sending ping requests (not being standard compliant ?) which Pidgin does not respond to.

Can you take a look at this issue and fix it if confirmed ?

got no responses, so will assume it is currently OK.  We can reopen, if not!

Second request for anybody still reproducing this with a current release (4.1 beta)?

Anybody able to comment if this is still valid with 3.10.2 release?

Any news one year after my comment?

I've changed the value of parameter xmpp.httpbind.client.idle to 120

No more ping timeout during last night until this morning when more users connect.

For some reason, the HttpSessionManager closes sessions it thinks are idling while they are not. Pidging sends packets (ping,...) at interval.
