Description

We're getting consistent reports that the first message in a conversation is being dropped. This might not be reproducible in every case, but we have two confirmed reports on two totally different pairs of computers. In one case, the message was dropped on Windows, in another on Mac. That means this is not a platform-specific bug.

This is being caused by the failure of emoticon packs to load. That issue itself has been fixed.
