Description
Currently DND (Do not disturb) presence in Spark has only informative function. User with DND status can still be "disturbed", receive messages. Though this behavior can be admitted by some users (i'm afraid that some of my coworkers can forget to change their presence too often), so it should stay.
But some other alternative options could be added:
- Queue messages while in DND: this will not show any messages to a user until he's in DND, but after changing status to Available (or any except DND?) he will get all queued messages at once. Sender will not get any notification after sending his message (except of the red DND icon that he must be seeing in chat window
)
- Bounce messages while in DND: this will block all incoming messages and sender will get a notification that receiving part is in DND and won't get that message.
Latter option could have some limitations. Because not all clients can support bouncing (receiving of bounce). So it can be limited to Spark only.
I agree with this DND change. The purpose of DND should be used if the user does not want distractions. IE - if they are giving a presentation to a group of people, an IM popping up would disturb the presentation.
This should be included in SPARK ASAP, otherwise to really have a DND status you must log out.
