Greetings,

Wildfire+Spark+LDAP(AD) here and the problem is the same; apparently any character that gets converted into UTF8 gets in the way of a sucessfull login (i.e. itś not only accented characters but characters like ? and even the an initial space character).

Could be a Spark issue and not an Openfire issue.

Same error with Miranda IM on Openfire 3.5.0 width Active Directory, so it must be an Openfire issue...

I think, it's a serios bug. Is there any workaround?

Same problem here with Openfire 3.6.0a and Miranda IM. Please provide a fix as german companies will often set active directory security parameters to force users to have at least one special char within the password and so login to Jabber isn't possible at all.

I'm also experiencing that Problem with some users. This is an blocking issue for using Openfire.
Are there any plans to fix this in next time?

For the embedded DB I can authenticate with special character when I setup the Openfire property "sasl.mechs" to "PLAIN". Is this also a workaround for LDAP and Active Directory users?

I have tried to login using spark 2.5.8 and Miranda and pidgin with a password containing ö on spark 2.5.8 and miranda i cant login but with pidgin it works like a sharm, I'm also trying the new spark beta and I have manage to login there using a password containing ö so I think the problem is in the client rather then the server?

We are using OF 3.6.4 with Spark 2.5.8 and Microsoft Active Directory. It's not possible to login with the Spark client, but I can login with Pidgin 2.7.2. but not with Pidgin 2.7.3. Could be a problem with the client.
